There are lots of reasons, but one stands out.
Even Joe Biden admits that he didn’t look that good in the debate. Hey! It was a performance thing. He had an off day. Far, far more important is how great he has been as a leader. I could go through the facts, but Americans don’t seem to be in a mood to listen.
CNN and Washington Post columnist Fareed Zakaria writes, “If you look at the facts, the United States is more powerful on many measures than it has been for years. But that is not how many Americans feel.” He then quotes an Ipsos/KCL poll that clearly shows that there is one country where people do not believe in the positive impact of the U.S. on the world: the United States itself. Zakaria concludes “The loss of confidence among Americans in their own country’s vitality, strength and virtue is profoundly worrying.” That’s one more way that Trump has damaged America. As he lies and moans about America, he’s making us all feel bad.
So, Biden fails at whipping up a lynch mob. Trump overperforms there and we don’t need more of that. There’s another reason I support Joe Biden.
A lot of people worry that Biden won’t last four more years. I hope he does, but in the unfortunate case that he doesn’t, Kamala Harris would make an EXCELLENT President. In fact, this strength in reserve is one of the best reasons I know of to support President Biden.
