From CNN: A great example of pretending that the sins of Kamala are the same as the sins of Trump
This morning on CNN, the in-house fact checker for CNN, Daniel Dale, compared the events that both Kamala and Trump held yesterday. He MUST have been firmly instructed to find fault with both sides to present the appearance of being unbiased.
Being fair with both sides is a good idea. Leaning over backwards so far that what you present is actually a lie itself is something else. I’m fact checking the fact checker here. CNN is guilty. The false equivalence of their Daniel Dale … and especially the banner text below if you watch TV with the sound off like I often do … is a primary reason people are simply confused. I mean, if CNN spanks Kamala, then she must be guilty. Right? … Wrong!
Here are the two examples cited.
Trump: In his rally, he presented a chart with complicated lines and arrows …

… that Trump claimed was evidence that he had controlled immigration and the Biden administration did not. Trump has been using this chart a lot since he claims God saved him from an assassin’s bullet as he was presenting it. The red arrow at the bottom, according to Trump, was his “last day in office”.
But it wasn’t.
He was in office as the chart skyrockets up for months after that. The dip in the chart where the arrow is shows the impact of COVID and nothing Trump did. And the spike before – deep in Trump territory — was due to Trump announcing his wall building plan (which Mexico did not pay for) that created a surge in family arrivals at the border.
The chart is lie with a gas filled stench.
Now let’s look at the “falsehood” from Kamala. Fair is fair.
In her event, an interview at her Town Hall (which Trump was invited to but decided to dodge), Kamala said she pledged that she would not ban fracking in the 2020 campaign. Dale said that wasn’t true and he played a clip from the debate with Mike Pence. I had turned the sound on and listened to what she actually said. Dale was right. She DIDN’T say that she, personally, would not ban fracking. As though she could! The VP has no power to set policy. She said that the Biden administration wouldn’t ban it.
OH COME ON!!!!! Kamala was running for the next-to-the-top role in the Biden Administration. But since the Vice President has zero power to set policy, the only thing she could talk about was what the Biden administration would do. Just because she didn’t take extra time in the debate to clarify that supporting Biden’s policy was as much as she could personally do …. Sheesh!
But, in order to attract viewers and the resulting ad dollars, CNN MUST find fault with both sides.
If this election plunges the United States into a fascist Trump dictatorship, false equivalence like this will bear much of the blame.
